My name is Rima Putri Agustina, 24 years old. I live in Bandung, a small city in Indonesia which develop into a metropolitan city. A city surrounded by forest yet once awarded as the dirtiest city of Indonesia in 2008 because of its sanitation problems.

I think I have a special relationship with forest, and I think it’s far more valuable than any adventurous experience. Since I was born, I live in suburban, where still I can find forest, rice field, and clean river. Almost in my childhood, I spent my life by playing in forest; playing hide and seek, searching for fruits, or just laying in forest floor.

After graduated, I spent my first 2 months as an intern article contributor for Greeners Magazine. After that, I had a chance to work as researcher assistant in Siberut Island, Mentawai Islands, West Sumatera, Indonesia. I was very lucky, since Siberut is one of other thousands of exotic islands in Indonesia. After the project was finished, until now, I work for YPBB, a small NGO in Bandung addresing urban green life style. I have a strong willingness to work seriously here, because I think urban people are the ones who have been destroyed our forest.

For me, sharing is the sweetest thing in the world. And I think I have a lot of experience to be shared through Forest Friend program. Not much, but I think it must be useful for other people in order to save our forest and all living creatures depends on it.

I am Yangki Imade Suara, 21, an undergraduate student in Padjadjaran University - Indonesia, majoring Economics and focusing to specialize in environmental economics. I have a great deal of Teaching Assistant in Faculty of Economics since 2008 and from 2009 I am a Research Assistant at the Center for Economics and Development Studies (CEDS), Padjadjaran University. Nowadays I am doing a research for my final thesis titled “Analyzing the Impact of Climate Change to Economic Growth”.

In 2008 I was joining the Padjadjaran University Delegation to the 54th Harvard National Model United Nations (HNMUN), Boston, MA, USA. In November 2009 I joined the Padjadjaran University Delegation to the Bliss Point 2009 in Delhi, India. Last year, I participated in Conference on Parties 15 (COP15) in Copenhagen, Denmark, as a member of International Youth Delegation.

My parents are farmer and we had tobacco field and paddy field in small village Baruah Gunuang in Lima Puluh Kota regency, Sumatera Barat province. When I was child, I used to hear the bird sing their song, help my parents in the farmland, spend my time to harvest the paddy field and playing a catch me if you can game; the rules are everyone must be on the trees and no one could touch the ground.

My father used to tell me that time by time, it’s very tough life as farmer. Because of the unpredictable weather its get harder and difficult to plant crops. My father stories encourage me to gain more knowledge about the environment and try to implement in daily life and hoping this knowledge would help me improve my capacity and useful for people wherever I live in the next future. I want to dedicate my life to do my best for my country and for our planet, Planet Earth.

I am inspired by the beauty of nature, watching the sunrise in the early morning, the growth of plants from seeds to harvest, and star filled nights.

My name is Mia Amelinda. I’m 19 years old and live in Jakarta. Currently, I’m majoring criminology in University of Indonesia. I am a team member of our university softball team and also love to read books and volunteering for numerous activities. I join this competition because I envision a project about green education. Through Forest Friends, I believe I can meet brilliant people from other city and country who can support my project. I wish we could share our ideas and make a change.

I got my environment awareness for the first time when I listen to a lecture about environmental crime on my major. I was shown how precious that water will be than a ton of gold in the future. I feel that the nature and its core was created to support human need. So, as gratitude, we have to protect it. Beside that, I want to keep the environment for future generation to see. My first work with WWF was the earth hour event. I was a volunteer in that event. When I was there I feel that this is my passion and I need to learn more about the nature. On April, I participate in an event  called Kumkum where I learned about trash and how to make them more useful. I might not make a big change yet but I always believe I’ll be a leader in the future. So, I must learn from now and make something useful for other people.
